Its seeds are usually auburn and oblong, its sides – slightly flattened. It has a strong characteristic aroma and a peppery taste. Ground cumin is added to different sausages, minced meats, home-made sausages and flat sausages, sauerkraut with meat, cabbage and rice, grilled dishes and others. It is also contained in many types of curry powders and garam masala. It is often added for flavor in the preparation of bread and pastry products. The spice is an excellent source of vitamin E.
